Most people who need carpet cleaning, would rather have a professional help them as opposed to having to do it themselves. In big cities like Charlotte, North Carolina for example, many people are busy and would rather hire a cleaning service. But what are the different ways that people are getting their carpets clean these days? There are two main solutions to problems with carpet cleaning, but beware, most of them should lie in the hands of professionals.

The first method of cleaning is what most people refer to as steam cleaning. This is when whoever is cleaning takes some water and heats it up to at least two-hundred degrees Fahrenheit (how this is done is up to the operator but there are many carpet cleaning machines that will do it for you). Then the hot water needs to be mixed with some type of a cleaning detergent, which in turn, needs to somehow be pressurized. Now, for individuals who are carpet cleaning, this whole process probably seems slightly complicated, and it is. Which is why even though you can rent steaming machines, it may be worth your extra penny to have a professional do it for you.

The point of the prior mentioned method is to put this new hot solution you have created into the carpet which should make any hard stains, residue or soil become completely liquid (hence the temperature of the water). Once it is liquid, it will rise to the service and can be taken out of the carpet. A machine will do this for you while cleaning and flushing through your carpet. For those carpet cleaning without a professional, it is also good to note that if the detergent is not mixed properly or if there is too much, a residue could be left that may damage your carpet instead of cleaning it. All directions need to be read very carefully on the cleaning supplies.

Another technique professionals use while carpet cleaning is the bonnet method. This is also known as an absorbent pad or a Chem-Dry type of carpet cleaning. This is a technique that is similar to the ones you see in movies when you picture people waxing floors, except it is used for your carpet, not your tile. It is called the bonnet method because it involves a big machine that uses a round rotary bonnet. It will actually even look like a floor buffer. The biggest difference, however, is that there is a pad attached to the bottom side of the machine that is actually absorbent.

This method helps people doing carpet cleaning by adding a cleaner that is liquid to the absorbent and spinning pad. Once this cleaner is put directly on the carpet with a stain, the pad will spin around and around, disturbing the habitation of these stains and forcing them to then be absorbed by this pad. Again, this is probably a method that is best left in the hands of the professionals who are doing carpet cleaning, primarily due to the heavy, and at times unsafe, equipment. If individuals would like to try this at home, however, it is recommended that they test a small portion of their carpet before applying the solution to the entirety of the carpet, as it could stain or ruin the fabric.

No matter how residents intend to clean their carpets, they will want to make sure that if there is any question or complication, they call a professional who can answer most questions easily over the phone.
